so machine and man where made to be one
bolted down to the same cold ground
some ideas don’t blend they can’t be spoken
they must float like oil
on the water
how I long to feel its power in me
spark a flame and grow into a fire
I stretch out an arm toward the mountain
hold it in my hand
it crumbles like a tiny lump of sand
now I can hear
the clatter and the noise
blend into a voice
quietly calling out to me
from my chest my heart beats like a hammer
it won’t rest before this night is through
hours pass each one lasts a lifetime
the morning whistle blows
I step outside into the cold
now I can hear
the stirrings of the day
ring into my ear
quietly coming back to me
